King mentioned basic four strategies in any nonviolent campaign that are also applicable in the campaign in Birmingham. They are respectively collection of facts, negotiation, self-purification and direct action. It turns that racial injustice was seen everywhere in Birmingham, and Negroes had gone through unfair treatment. With sufficient facts as evidence, King proceeded to illustrate the strategies of negotiation, self-purification and direct action. Direction negotiation with the dominant party was not easy. King thus suggested an indirect way to realize eventual chance of negotiation, self-purification and direct action.
